A Pokemon Trainers Christmas

It was snowing. Just the right kind of snow for Christmas eve.
The sun would be setting soon. The two pokemon trainers
walked along the path leading to Pallet Town. One of them, a
boy with cherry brown hair that was spiked in just the right way,
was seemingly cold in the chilly winter weather.

"Your cold aren't you Gary?" The other one said without
looking at Gary.

Gary looked to his partner. "No. I'm fine."

The second trainer stopped walking. She took off the black
jacket that she wore. Then she handed it to Gary, who had
stopped walking a few feet down the road. "Take my jacket. I'll
be fine and I can tell you're cold."

Gary sighed. "Nothing gets past you does it?" He took the jacket
from the girl knowing she wouldn't give up til he took it. He put
it on over the purple long sleeve shirt he wore and looked at her.

She was slightly shorter then he was despite the fact that she was
older. She wore a blue short sleeved shirt, baggy blue jeans and
of course a black jacket that she wore unless he was cold. She
kept her long purple hair tied back in a braid and wore a black
hat. Her blue eyes hid behind the golden frames of her glasses.
The same eyes hid a secret that she had shared with him not long
ago.

"Nope. And don't worry about me. I like the snow," she said and
continued walking.

Gary followed her. "Joey your making me feel guilty by giving
me your jacket."

Joey looked at him once he caught up to her pace. "Don't worry
about me," she repeated. "I have a strange resistance to cold for
some reason."

Gary realized that he wasn't going to win the argument so her
dropped the subject. A period of silence followed and Joey
seemed to be lost in thought for some time. To break the silence
Gary decided to break the silence by asking a question that he
had wondered for the past week.

"What are you going to do for Christmas?"

Joey paused before answering. "I really don't know Gary. I
haven't got any family to go home to, and really no home for
that matter."

Gary purposed an idea he had if she answered the way she did.
"Would you like to spend Christmas with my family?"

Joey predicted he was going to say that. Embarrassed, she said,
"I couldn't, it wouldn't be right. I've done nothing to deserve to
stay with your family tonight."

"I see. Where will you go," he asked in a concerning.

"I'll probably go and find a part time job to make a little money.
I would go back to Washus but I said I'd never go back until I'd
become a pokemon master." Joey replied with a sigh.

Gary smiled a smile that showed a bit of pity for his friend. He
knew she wanted a family more than anything and he couldn't
give that to her and it hurt.

"You'll come and meet my family at least right? You're invited
to dinner if you want," he offered.

Joey looked down at her feet. Quietly she said, "Christmas is
about family. you've got one and I don't. That's my problem.
Plus it's too unexpected." She saw that Gary looked
disappointed. "How about we plan for next year?"

Gary looked to Joey and smiled. "Next year it is then."

After a long journey back from Fuchsia city, the two trainers
reached the end of the tall grass that marked the borders of
Pallet Town.

"So we part ways here it seems," Joey said looking down the
main road of the town.

Gary looked to her. "We'll meet back here on the 26th then to
head to Cinnabar island?"

Joey nodded then took her backpack off. "I've got you a
Christmas present, Gary," she said and pulled a small gift
wrapped in purple wrapping with a gold ribbon.

"Surprise. I've got you one too." Gary opened his own backpack
which he had been carrying ever since he decided to take a
pokemon journey on foot with Joey. He pulled out a green
wrapped box with a red bow on it.

The two partners exchanged gifts and with a shake of hands and
a kiss on the cheek for Joey, the two part ways until the day after
tomorrow.
