Team Rocket47's Bestest Fanfic
Chapter 23: The Next Great Breakout

It was one o'clock in the morning, and most of the members of Team Rocket47 were assembled
in the main room of the underground base. Aly had her head leaned against Kenny's shoulder,
and was falling back asleep. Michi yawned then leaned back in her chair, closing her eyes to
rest. Jads was looking down at the ground, clearly awake but looking horribly worried at the
same time. Magick was in her human form with her arm over Jads' shoulder, trying to comfort
her. Dreana was waiting patiently by the door, waiting for Kat to return.

***

"Give me ten minutes and I'll bring back the biggest bombs I have," Kat announced with a tone
of pride in her inventions.

Dreana looked at the bright pink mewtwo quizzically, then smiled slightly. "Just don't overdo it
please. We only need enough to blow up a wall."

Kat grinned a bit. "You sure you don't want anything that would level the whole place?" she
asked.

Dreana glared at her. "We want to get Ira out alive, remember?"

"Yeah, I know, I know. I'll be back soon then." Kat gave a small bow, then headed out to collect
the explosives.

***

"Remind us again why we're doing this tonight, Dreana?" Michi asked while nodding off
slightly.

Dreana didn't take her eyes from the door. "Because according to the resident purple mew, if we
don't save Ira as soon as possible, he won't be alive to save." Jads frowned even more after
hearing this, and sobbed. Magick gave her a small hug to try and calm her down.

Are you sure you're up for this Jads?

Jads looked up, surprised to hear Dreana's voice in her head. Then she nodded to indicate that
she was indeed up to saving Ira.

I have to make sure that he's all right, she thought. He's been my best friend forever, and I don't
know what I'd do if he were gone.

I understand, Dreana replied silently. You know what to do right?

Jads nodded her reply again. Dreana gave her a smile, then looked to the door again.

***

"Bugger." Ira sighed, looking out the barred window. He had never realized how beautiful the
stars were. Then he guessed that no one really did unless they knew that it would be their last
night to live. "Hey Jade?"

After a small pause, he heard a reply from the other side of the wall. "Yeah?"

"Do you think they'll give me a trial?" he asked curiously.

He heard a soft sigh, then, "Probably not. And even if they did, which is rare, then it most likely
wouldn't be a fair trial."

Ira frowned. "Not like I could win in a fair trial anyway." He sighed.

"Cheer up," Jade encouraged from across the wall. "Maybe your friends in Team Rocket47 will
help you escape tonight."

Ira gave a hollow laugh. "Yeah right," he said. "They aren't going to find out that I'm going to
be killed until after I'm dead."

"There's still a chance," Jade said with a small reassuring tone.

Ira glanced up to the stars again. "That chance is just too small to comfort me, Jade."

***

Magick ran silently through the forest, paying close attention to the sounds around her. She was
back in her mew form and unlike the others, she had her own mission to complete. They were all
planning to save Ira, while she was sent to rescue Joey. She had a small backpack on that
contained a small bomb to be used as a last resort.

She heard the snapping of a twig, and stopped abruptly. Quickly she stood up to her full height,
rather then on four legs which was common for running. Carefully she listened for another
sound. She could hear faint traces of voices to the west, the other Team Rocket47 members, but
nothing else of the sound she heard closer. She waited a few more moments before continuing
on.

She didn't quite understand why Dreana recommended that she walked rather then fly, But she
took the advice anyway. Dreana seemed like the leader of Tr47, though she never admitted to it.

Magick was about to break into a run again when she heard a soft sound from behind her.

"Dree..."

She stopped again, standing up on her back legs again. Cautiously she asked, "Who's there?"
The only reply she achieved was silence. Louder she announced, "I won't hurt you. Please come
out."

She heard a rustling in a bush nearby and crouched down defensively. Silently a dratini slithered
out, a light green bow tied around his neck. Magick stood up again, watching it carefully. She
quickly realized who it was after it came into a patch of moonlight.

"Daren? What are you doing here?"

With a small dragon smile he replied, "I wanted to make sure that Joey was ok. Can I follow
you?"

Magick hesitated, then said, "Dreana will be angry, but as long as you don't get in the way or
anything it should be ok."

The dratini grinned, then slithered over to her.

"Come on. We gotta be quiet, Dreana thinks that they may be keeping track of this forest in
order to keep us from doing exactly what we're trying to do," Magick explained after setting the
pace at a fairly quick run. Daren kept up easily enough, and was surprisingly silent. He nodded
in reply to her.

Don't worry, Joey, she thought silently. We'll help you escape.

***

"They call this place the most high security prison?" Kenny asked with a smirk.

Aly smacked him on the shoulder. "Don't underestimate. Dreana said to be careful so no one
else will get caught." He sighed and looked to Jads and Michi, who were standing close by.

"So what's the plan?" Michi asked curiously, with Jads nodding in agreement.

"Well," Aly explained, "It's kinda like what you did to save us when Team Smak was destroyed.
You two," she indicated to Michi and Jads, "are going to stay here and destroy this wall to create
a distraction. Then I want you as far from here as you can. Kenny an I are going to sneak in and
rescue Ira. We'll meet back at the underground base. Got it?"

"Yeah," Both Jads and Michi clarified simultaneously.

Kenny looked at the jail wall again, then looked to the two younger members. "Good luck, and
don't get yourselves blown up."

Michi shifted the backpack she wore uneasily, then smiled. "We won't." Jads smiled slightly as
well.

"Don't take too long," Aly directed "We'll be waiting for the signal." She then grabbed Kenny's
wrist and ran off into the forest, leaving Jads and Michi alone.

***

Pelican yawned, sitting on a comfy chair in the underground headquarters of Team Rocket47.
Drowsily he asked, "Why did you wake me up?"

Dreana gave him a small glare before answering. With calm irritation she said, "So you can help
protect the HQ in case Team Rocket decides to try and destroy us while two thirds of our
members are away."

"But you and Kat are two of the most powerful pokemon around. Why do you need my help?"
Pelican protested.

Kat gave him a glare as well, causing him to sit back in silence.

You think they're ok, Dreana? Kat asked psychically.

Dreana looked at the clock and sighed. They should be if they listened to what I told them. I
know that Kenny and Aly will most likely be fine, because they've done this a million times
before. But the other three don't have that kind of experience. That's why I'm worried.

Maybe I should have gone with them? Kat suggested. Those explosives are really dangerous if
you don't know how to use them.

No, Dreana replied. I'm pretty sure Jads can handle it, because she seems to have a talent in
blowing things up.

Kat sighed. If you say so.

Pelican looked at the two pink cat type pokemon quizzically. They were both just staring at each
other. He shrugged, then crossed his arms in attempt to catch some more sleep.

Dreana glanced at him and said, "Don't you dare fall asleep, Pelican."

***

"Are you sure we don't need to place any bombs higher up?" Michi asked, looking at the row of
small bombs attached to the base of the wall.

Jads looked over the neatly placed row as well, with a proud smile. "Not really. If we destroy the
bottom the top will crash down too."

"Oh. I guess that makes sense," the raichu morph agreed. "You have the detonator right?"

The other girl pulled a small remote control out of her pocket, that had a large red button under a
glass cover. "Of course. Now lets get outta here, we don't want this falling on us."

Michi looked up at the wall of solid rock and cement, then gulped before turning and running
deeper into the forest with Jads following.

***

Ira was laying face down on the bed, his face buried in a pillow. Silently he willed time to slow
down. It wasn't working.

"Jade? Are you awake?" He asked quietly. He received a few mumbled words as a reply. Sadly
he sat up and stood up on his bed. Looking over the wall, he saw that Jade had fallen asleep.
Sighing sadly, he sat down on the bed.

Looking at his watch, he saw that it was four o'clock in the morning. "I guess they're not
coming," He said sadly.

As he laid down again, the sound of an explosion rang out from the side of the jail opposite his
window, followed by a huge crash. He stood up quickly, then fell over as he put his weight on
his injured ankle. Wincing, he decided to stay sitting on the floor.

Commotion began to buzz throughout the entire building as officers began to run toward the
place of the explosion. Ira had seen this done before, when he, Jads and Joey rescued the three
remaining Team Smak members. But it couldn't work twice, could it?

He heard a small rustling from the other side of the wall, and before long Jade popped her head
up over the top. "What's up?" she asked between a yawn.

"Well it seems that my ride out of here has arrived on time," he replied from the ground.

She smiled. "See? I told you they would. Are you ok down there?"

"I don't think so," Ira responded through another wince. "I think I hurt my leg pretty bad this
time."

"I told you not to stand up so fast," Jade patronized. "It doesn't matter now though. You've got a
one way ticket out of here."

"Maybe you can come with me!" Ira suggested hopefully.

Jade shook her head. "No, you'll have a better chance of escape without me tagging along." She
saw the look on his face and sighed. "Don't worry about me. I'm sure the members of Team
Rocket12 will save me eventually."

"But-"

"No buts, Ira," Jade said sternly. "I'm not going to be killed in an hour."

Ira rubbed his leg and winced. "I guess you're right. So this is goodbye then?"

"Not goodbye. I'm pretty sure we'll meet again someday," Jade replied with a small smile. "Just
don't get yourself killed before then." Before he could reply, she dipped down out of sight.

"Ready to go now, Ira?"

Ira looked to the door to see Kenny with his back against the bars, and Aly fiddling with the
lock. "When did you guys get here?" he asked in surprise.

"Just now," Kenny replied. "So are you ready to go or not?"

Ira nodded, then pulled himself to his feet using the bed to hold on to. "You guys are great. If
you hadn't have come tonight..."

"We already know," The elder boy interrupted. He then stopped leaning on the doors and turned
around. While Ira pondered over this, Aly gave a sharp twist to the lock, causing it to split in
half. She then pulled the door open and looked up. A look of concern came over her face when
she saw him leaning all his weight on one leg.

"Can you walk, Ira?" she asked in worry.

Ira gave a small nod before taking a step on his bad leg and falling over with a sharp crack
sound. Both Kenny and Aly winced from the sound. "That really hurt," Ira announced through a
terrible cringe.

Kenny sighed, then walked into the cell and knelt down next to him. "Come on. Those dim-
witted police officers won't be fooled by the diversion Michi and Jads caused for long."

Still wincing on the verge of tears, Ira breathed, "But I don't think I can..." But was interrupted
by being lifted into the air.

"Do me a favor and don't make any sudden movements," Kenny said while carrying the other
boy to the door in his arms. Ira could only blink in surprise as Aly giggled and held the door
open. "You're too heavy for your own good Ira."

***
Magick crept through the dark pokemon center, her cat like eyes seeing all the light in the room.
She looked behind her, and saw Daren still following, looking worried. She smiled to him, then
whispered, "Can you see alright?"

The dratini shook his head, then looked around cautiously. "I can't see a thing, Magick," he
whispered back. "It's so dark, I think I'm going to get lost. I can't see you at all."

The black mew thought for a minute, then reached her tail back. When it touched Daren, he
jumped. "It's only me, Daren. Grab onto my tail." She waited a moment, then nearly yelled out.
Wincing in pain, she asked, "What'd you do, bite it?" She looked back again, and saw Daren
nodding, while biting her tail. "Ok... follow me, and don't bite so hard!"

The two crept along in the dark until they found a room with the label: High Security, Do Not
Enter. It seemed like the right place, so they entered silently.

They first thing the two of them heard was a soft beeping. Magick looked around the room,
which was as dark as the rest of the building. She quietly began to crawl forward, but was jerked
to a stop by her tail. She turned around and yelled in a hushed voice, "Daren! I wanna check out
this room. Let go!"

Daren let the mews tail fall to the ground. Quietly he said, "Sorry."

"Who's there?"

The voice came from across the room, and both Magick and Daren yelped in surprise. Quickly
regaining herself, Magick half whispered, "Depends on who wants to know."

"Magick? Is that you?"

"Joey?"

"Magick! What are you doing here?"

Magick ran forward, using what little light there was in the room to see. She found a table in the
middle of the room and hopped up on top of it, finding Joey tied down on the surface of it. The
purple mew smiled and whispered, "It's really you! Dreana sent you to rescue me?"

"Yup," Magick replied with a grin. "Now all we have ta do is get you out of here."

The lights switched on, causing both mews to squint. In a threatening tone, a deep voice
announced, "Not so fast."

Joey closed her eyes tight, and struggled against the leather bands that held her to the table. In a
shaking voice she said, "Oh no, please don't let it be him." Wincing in either fear or pain she
whispered, "Magick, please help me!"

With her eyes finally adjusted to the brightness, Magick looked at the one who turned on the
light. Her eyes widened in shock as she blurted, "Michel Green?"

The green haired dork smiled, still standing by the light switch. "Well, well, well," he said.
"Looks like another one of those 47 members has come to save her friend. I was coming to
kidnap the purple one," Joey flinched at this, "But if I brought two mews with me, I think it
would be highly profitable on my part."

Magick glared at him. "You're not taking either of us anywhere. I promised that we'd come back
alive, and I plan to keep that promise." Joey looked up to her with blue eyes that were filled with
fear. Quietly she whispered, "Don't worry, Joey. We'll be out of here soon." The mew laying on
the table nodded shakily.

"DRAGON TACKLE!" Michel only had time to raise an eyebrow before he was pushed to the
ground by the small pokemon with the green bow around his neck. Magick looked at Daren in
surprise. He smiled then said, "Save my Joey now, ok?" Then he began to butt his head against
Michel's back.

Magick smiled at him, then drew her sharp claws. Joey's eyes grew wide in shock. "You're not
going to slash me into lil pieces now are you?" she asked with a nervous grin.

Magick gave her a small smile, then gave a quick slash to the band holding down her left wrist.
Joey gave a small laugh as the black mew proceeded to cut the straps that held her arms and
other wrist. With a smile she sat up, then winced in pain from the two wounds that were still
healing, and laid back down.

"Hold still for a little," Magick ordered. Joey blinked, then crossed her arms with a wince and
waited. Magick then finished releasing her from the table, by cutting the bonds that held her legs
and tail. She helped Joey to her feet by holding her up from under the shoulders. They both
gasped as they heard a strangled noise from across the room. The purple mew would have
collapsed if she wasn't being held on her feet.

"Daren!" Joey yelled with tears in her eyes. Magick glared at Michel, who was holding the
dratini by the neck and slowly choking him. Joey fell down to her knees, glaring as well with
eyes on the verge of crying.

Michel walked closer to them slowly, holding the struggling dratini in his hand. "It seems like
you two are in a predicament. If you fire an attack at me, you'll only hurt your friend. You don't
want that do you?"

Both mews glared at him with enmity that could kill. Joey stood back up slowly and with help,
then whispered, "Can you pinpoint your attacks?"

Magick shook her head and replied, "No, I'm not that accurate."

Joey cursed, then looked at her dratini, who was slowly stopping his struggling. She made a
noise in her throat that sounded similar to a growl. In a voice slightly louder then a whisper she
directed, "Use your most powerful attack on the count of three."

Magick looked at her in surprise. "But what about Daren?"

"One."

"Joey!"

"Two."

Michel looked at the two of them in surprise, then tightened his grip on the dragon pokemon's
neck. "You wouldn't dare!"

Joey took on a bright purple glow as she yelled, "Three!"

At the same time both mews used a psychic attack on the green haired chap, sending him
crashing against the wall. His hand released on the dratini's neck, leaving the pokemon to fall to
the ground coughing. Magick caught Joey as she fell over, the bandages from her two wounds
turning red from her bleeding. Daren looked up from the floor to the two mews. In a strained
voice he asked, "Is my Joey ok?"

Magick smiled to him, holding the purple mew so she wouldn't fall down on her face. She was
unconscious now, and breathing irregularly. "I think she'll be ok, once we get back to the base.
We didn't hurt you when we attacked did we?"

"No," the Dratini replied. "You didn't really hit me, most of the attack was directed toward
him." He jerked his head toward Michel, who was laying in front of the wall, knocked out as
well. "But I think that we should go now, before we are discovered."

Magick nodded in agreement, then shifted her hold on Joey to her back, so she was being carried
piggyback. Suddenly the alarm in the building rang out, causing Daren and Magick to flinch.
"Better now then never," Magick announced as she fired a psychic attack at the roof, making a
hole in it. She gently jumped down off the table and grabbed hold of Daren's tail. She smiled at
his surprise, then carrying them both up into the sky, which was just seeing the first light of
dawn.
