Team Rocket47's Bestest Fanfic
Chapter 25: Regained Partnership

Back in my human form, I ran for the door. I was jerked to a halt
by Dreana stepping on my tail. I winced then asked, "Why are
you stopping me?"

"I'm just wondering where you're going in such a hurry," she
replied, taking her foot off my tail.

Quickly I explained, "Lucky's not here, and I'm worried that he
might be dead."

With a look of concern she asked, "What makes you say that?"

"It's still foggy, but Lucky saved my life. Tac was gonna shoot
me in the head, but Lucky bit his arm causing him to miss, I
think," I replied hastily.

"But what makes you think he's hurt?" Dreana inquired.

Burning with impatience I answered, "If he wasn't, wouldn't he
be back?"

Dreana thought for a moment before saying, "Then go on, but be
careful."

I smiled to her, then ran out the door.

***

Sighing, I wandered over to a computer and sat down in front of
it. Joey was always making me worry with her recklessness. At
least she was back, along with Ira and the others that had gone to
save them. There was that one who had been killed by the
Writer, but no one cared about him. I started to do some
research on Tac's background like I promised.

"Dreana?"

I looked down to the source of the voice and saw Magick,
standing with a small grin. I smiled then replied, "Hello Magick.
Anything you need?"

She jumped up onto the desk and sat down next to the monitor.
"Actually I've been thinking," she said. I gave a nod to show
that I was listening and she continued. "About that healing spell.
Kat can do it, and you said you can too. So I was wondering
since I'm a mew too if I..."

"If you could do it as well?" I interrupted. She nodded and I
smiled, stopping my work on the computer. "Healing spells are
not normal pokemon powers. It's incredibly rare for anyone to
be able to do any kind of healing spell."

"Oh," she said with a frown.

Dreana gave a small sigh then took Magick by the wrist.
"There's always the chance," she explained while dragging the
black mew down one of the many hallways. "Magik tends to be
common among mews."

In confusion, Magick asked, "Me?"

"No," Dreana explained. "Magik without the c is something
different. It's not a pokemon power, because most pokemon
can't do it. It also has nothing to do with being a human,
because I've never even heard of a human who can use magik.
Instead, it's something that's most common in crossbreeds,
though it's rare there even."

"Crossbreeds?" Magick pondered questioningly while still being
dragged along by the wrist.

Dreana nodded. "As in non pure blooded pokemon. Either half
human and half pokemon, or a cross between two different
pokemon."

"Like when you breed a ivysaur and a bayleef?" Magick asked.

"Not exactly. It's kind of hard to explain." Dreana stooped at a
door not far from Joeys laboratory and opened it, the door
leading to a case of stairs heading downward into darkness.
Letting go of Magick's arm she said, "Follow me and stay
close," before walking down into the darkness.

***

"Lucky! Where are you?" I yelled desperately. This forest was
just too big. It was helpful to keep hidden from Team Rocket.
But when you were looking for someone, the miles and miles of
trees were aggravating.

I sat down on the floor, sighing. How could I just forget Lucky
like that? It'd been a week since I'd been captured and I was
unconscious for most of that time, but I still blamed myself for
not realizing it sooner. And now my poor arcanine could be dead
if Tac had hurt him.

I pulled the six pokeballs off my belt and released Sakura,
Lance, Daren, Confusion, Teller, and Darkstrike, my houndoom.
I looked to then all and said, "Lucky's missing, you guys. I can't
search this forest alone. Will you help me?"

They all agreed, with exception of Darkstrike, who turned his
head away. I looked to him and pleaded, "Please, DS? I took you
out of the box because You can track better then any pokemon I
know."

The houndoom growled deep in his throat, and I replied, "I
know you don't like Lucky. But will you please help for my
sake?" After a small moment, Darkstrike nodded. I smiled then
said, "Ok, we'll split up to cover more ground. If anyone finds
Lucky, give a signal. If no one finds him by the time the moon
sets, well meet back here, alright?"

Lance gave a nod before flying up into the warm night air.
Sakura and Confusion both smiled and headed off in opposite
directions. Teller gave a small wave of her spoon and headed off
as well. DS gave me a dark look before running off as well. I
gave a soft sigh and looked up to the sky, where the moon was
directly overhead. "Please be ok, Lucky," I whispered softly.

***

"There are four types of magik," Dreana announced suddenly
while we walked down the dark stairs, causing me to jump. She
continued on with her explanation. "Those four types would be,
healing, attack, defense, and curse. If you can do any of the first
three, no matter how strong, you can do curse as well. Ignoring
the curse category for the moment, most who can do any magik
at all are only strong in either healing, defense, or attack, and not
the other two. For example, Kat, who masters in healing magik,
is virtually powerless on defense or attack. Are you following
me?"

I nodded then repeated, "Four types of magik, attack, defense,
healing and curse. Anyone who can do magik can use the curse
side, but is only strong in one other."

"Good," Dreana stated. "Now what the first three are should be
self explanatory. As for the fourth, curse magik, I recommend
staying away from it."

"Why's that?" I asked curiously.

I heard the pink mew sigh before she said, "It's the dark side of
magik, and the most powerful. The effects it can have on those it
is used on can be worse then death. But it also effects the user as
well."

I shuddered at her tone. I couldn't imagine what could be worse
then death. As I pondered over that, the lights flickered on,
causing me to squint. I looked up to Dreana, who was floating
next to a light switch. She gave me a smile as she descended to
ground level, then walked into the room where the stairs ended.
It was an old and dusty basement from the looks of it.

"Welcome to the old and dusty basement of Team Rocket47,"
Dreana announced slyly after reading my thoughts. "This would
be the place we stash all of the stuff that we don't currently have
a use for. Keep close so you don't get lost."

I coughed from a bit of dust then followed her into the forest of
boxes. As we walked along, Dreana looked over the names of
the boxes, seemingly looking for one in particular. After a few
minutes of walking, Dreana smiled then took a medium sized
cardboard box off of an old table.

"What's in there?" I asked.

Dreana set it down on the floor. "Just some old junk, and the
thing that we're looking for," she announced, coughing from the
dust as well. The pink mew opened the lid and began looking
through it. She pulled out what looked like a folded out blanket
and set it down on the floor, followed by a large sword in its
sheath, about 4 feet long, which she set on top of the blanket like
thing.

Observing the blade from where I waited, I asked, "Why do you
have a sword down here?"

Dreana didn't sound as cheerful when she replied, "It's a long
story. It rightfully belongs to Joey, but she doesn't know how to
use it, and she won't." She seemed hurt to talk about it, so I
didn't drag the subject any further. After a little more
rummaging, Dreana pulled out a small leather bag. She moved a
few steps away from the box and gestured for me to come over
to where she stood. I did so, and she smiled.

"Alright," she said, "I want you to close your eyes and pull a
stone out of this bag."

"How will this figure out if I can use magik or not?" I
questioned.

Dreana smiled. "Just do it, then you'll find out."

I sighed then reluctantly stuck my paw into the bag. Randomly
picking out a rock, I pulled it out and looked at it while showing
it to Dreana. It was a beautiful shade of blue, the colour of the
ocean on a clear day. There was a bright blue glow around it as
well. Somehow, it felt warm in my hand and gave me a feeling
of comfort.

With a grin, Dreana announced, "Looks like you have extremely
strong powers in defense magik. But the bad news is..."

"There's bad news?" I asked, holding the stone against my chest.

Dreana sighed. "Indeed there is. That rock shows you have
strong potential, but there's no one who can teach you."

I frowned, despite the warmth from the stone. "So I'll never be
able to learn?"

"No, you can learn, it will just be hard. Kat learned without any
teaching, and she's incredibly strong," Dreana replied, reaching
into the bag herself. She pulled out a white stone, similar in
shape with my own, but with a much fainter, white glow. "I
don't have that strong powers, because I'm pure mew. If Kat
were to hold this same stone, you'd see a white glow as strong
as yours." Then she overturned the bag and the other two stones
fell out, one red and one black.

"What are those two for?" I asked wonderingly.

Dreana pointed to the red stone, which was the colour of blood.
"That one would be what someone with powers in attack would
take from the bag. And the black one," she pointed to the other
rock, "is what someone with no powers would take." Then she
put the two back into the leather satchel, and then reluctantly
returned the white one as well.

"Now the hard part," she said with a small grin to me. She held
out the bag and instructed, "Put the stone back."

With another small frown I asked, "Do I have to?"

Dreana gave me a small smile of pity then answered, "Yes, you
do. She grinned and asked, "It's warm isn't it?"

I nodded, then slowly dropped the stone back in the bag. The
warm feeling stayed with me for a few seconds before fading.

Tying the bag shut, she walked over and set it back in the
cardboard box, along with the sword and blanket type thing. She
returned it to it's place, then came over and put a hand on my
shoulder. "Putting it back is always hardest. We had to
practically pry the red stone from Joey when she was tested."

"So Joey can use attack magik?"

"Yes, but she never does. Just like the sword. She had almost a
bright a glow as Sura," she announced sadly, while walking
toward the door. As if to answer my unspoken question, she
answered, "It's that long story. Ask me another time about who
Sura is and where that sword and cloak came from."

I nodded as she turned off the lights and led the way up the
stairs. On the way up she was mostly silent until we reached the
top, where she took a hold of my arm.

"Magick," she said, "I think it would be best if you didn't
mention anything that we did or talked about down there to Aly
or Kenny, Kenny in particular." I nodded in agreement.

"Ok. Thanks for letting me find out that I can use magik," I said
with a smile.

She gave me a small pat on the shoulder then said, "It was
nothing. Now go have fun, I have work to do."

I nodded again, then ran off.

***

I wandered though the forest hopelessly. Lucky was just no
where to be found. none of my other pokemon had sent out the
signal saying that they had found him either. I'd been looking
for at least two hours, without a trace.

I even risked my life by heading back to the old cabin, which I
found had been burned down like the Team Smak one. There
was no trail or anything that showed that Lucky had run. The
only thing I found, that the police had supposedly missed, was
Lucky's pokeball. I found it buried in the ashes of the cabin,
broken.

I pulled the broken pokeball out from my backpack and
examined it, after sitting down on the ground. I was at least sure
that Lucky hadn't been trapped inside when they burned the
cabin down, and even if he was, he wouldn't have died. He was
a fire pokemon after all.

And he was still missing. I felt so guilty, not remembering him
the instant I woke up. He was my strongest fire pokemon of all,
and I couldn't lose him. That would be breaking a promise to
not only Lucky, but Gary as well. The thought of Gary's reaction
if I told him that Lucky had died brought tears to my eyes.
Setting my head down on my knees I began to sob sadly, crying,
"Lucky, where are you?"

I heard a familiar dark chuckle behind me, and looked around. I
frowned when I saw who it was, and instantly rubbed the tears
on my jacket sleeve.

"You really are pathetic, Joey," Jackie announced, a cruel grin
on her face.

I glared at her then asked, "What do you want, Jackie?"

She gave me an innocent smile before replying, "I just thought
you's like to know where your arcanine is."

With a look of worry I inquired, "Is Lucky ok?"

"Yes he is," she replied indifferently. "If you want to see him,
follow me, but don't give the signal to your other pokemon."

I nodded reluctantly, then followed her quick pace at a run. She
led me through the forest for about a fourth of a mile before
stopping at a small cave built in to the hillside. She looked back
to me before heading in. I was forced to transform back into my
mew form to fit through the entrance. Once inside I smiled to
see Lucky, laying down by a fire.

I gave my arcanine a hug around the neck before saying, "Oh
Lucky, I'm so glad you're ok."

In pokemon language he replied, "And I'm glad you're ok too. I
was worried when the evil one hurt you."

"Did Tac hurt you at all?" I asked in concern for the dog type
pokemon.

He gave me a smile before pointing his nose at his left hind leg,
which had a bandage made of leaves over it. I frowned then
hugged him tighter, "I'm sorry, Lucky."

"Don't worry," he replied. "Jackie's been helping me out."

I looked to the jolteon, who was sitting on the other side of the
cave with her back turned. The fire light brought out the deep
golden colour of her fur. "Jackie?" I asked quietly.

She looked at me and replied, "What is it?"

"Thank you for taking care of Lucky for me," I acknowledged
with a small smile.

Her unresponsive expression didn't change as she said, "It was
nothing. I just wanted to help an old friend."

Letting go of Lucky's neck, I walked over to where Jackie was
sitting. The jolteon was a whole foot and 4 inches taller then me
sitting down. I sat down next to her and added, "I'm also sorry
for what I said about a month ago, though you don't seem to like
apologies too much."

She didn't look at me, only stared at the cave wall. I sighed then
continued, "I'm also sorry about losing tho Michi. I didn't mean
to lose on purpose. If I knew she was going to use a ground type,
I would have used Confusion or Sakura." I thought of those two,
and the others, still out looking for Lucky. I wonder why Jackie
told me not to send out a signal. "Is there any way I could make
it up to you?"

I looked up to her, and saw a concentrating look in her eyes.
When I thought she was going to say something, she looked over
to another entrance, one I didn't enter from, and lowered her
ears in anger as Darkstrike popped his head in gingerly. In a
whisper he asked, "I wouldn't be interrupting anything would
I?"

Jackie glared at him then answered, "No, nothing at all."

Still half outside he requested, "I've been on a search for Lucky.
May I come in?"

"Feel free," Jackie answered, her soft fur bristling into sharp
needles.

Entering fully, DS glanced at Lucky, then wandered over Jackie,
finally noticing me. He gave me a noted glance then focused his
attention on Jackie. The cave was plenty big enough for the four
of us, but I felt Jackie's tension building.

"What is this, a meeting of some silly Dogs United gang?" I
joked, trying to release some of the nervousness.

DS ignored me, and in a charming voice he announced in
pokemon language, "You ran away Jackie. Why would you do
such a thing?

Darkly the Jolteon mumbled, "To get away from your annoying
flirting."

Not hearing, DS asked, "What was that?"

Jackie cleared her throat then replied, "Because of Tac, that's
why."

Curiously I pondered, "Because of Tac?"

"Yes," Jackie answered.

Perking my ears up I gave a half smile. "So it wasn't my fault?"

Jackie gave a small harsh laugh before responding, "Of course it
was your fault. Tac just added to it."

With concern I asked, "He didn't hurt you did he? Because if he
did I'll...."

"No, he didn't do anything directly to me," she interrupted. "It
was just his being a traitor and a Team Rocket member. And
with everyone blinded by his lies...."

It was my turn to interrupt. "I wasn't fooled by him," I said
forcefully.

With a bit of surprise, Jackie looked at me. "You weren't?"

I shook my head. "Not at all. It was everyone else who didn't
believe me. Isn't it true, Lucky?"

Lucky nodded. "Joey told me that she didn't trust him right after
he was recruited."

"So I guess I was wrong, for once," Jackie admitted slowly. "I
was mostly angry with you because I thought you trusted Tac as
well. The battle didn't matter to me."

"That changes everything I guess," I replied.

Jackie cleared her throat. "So I'm the one who should apologize.
I'm sorry for assuming you were an idiot for the wrong reasons,
Joey."

I gave the jolteon a hug. "Apology accepted Jackie. Do you want
to be my best electric pokemon again?"

"Why not," she acknowledged. "You'd be a loser of a trainer
without me."

I only gave her a tighter hug.

DS cleared his throat then announced, "I'm still here you know."

I let go of Jackie and looked to him. Sighing I said, "Go outside
and signal to the other five, telling them that I've found Lucky."

He gave a glance to Lucky, who he had been trying to ignore,
then nodded his head and strolled out.

"Do you think you can walk, Lucky?" Jackie asked after
Darkstrike had left.

Lucky nodded his head. "I made it all the way here from the
cabin a week ago on three legs, I think I can make it to the
underground base."

I smiled then together with Jackie, helped Lucky to his feet.
With a soft smile I thought to myself, Everything's going to be
okay after all.
