The Megami Series II: Episode Two

Mitsukai and Kurama walked out side the hotel through the forest. "So, what did you want to talk to me about?" Mitsukai asked Kurama curiously.

"I don’t know, it’s just," Kurama stopped and took Mitsukai’s hands in his own, "I’m so happy to see you. I knew we would meet again."

Mitsukai’s face turned a very bright shade of red, and her thoughts were clouded over so much that she couldn’t use her telepathy. "I-I’m so happy to see you again too."

"You don’t…" Kurama looked up, thinking for the right way to phrase his question, "have a boyfriend, or anything like that, do you?"

Mitsukai tilted her head, still blushing too hard to read his mind. "No, all the guys back in the U.S. are afraid of me, though plenty have asked Hana out!" Mitsukai mumbled, completely changing the subject as she pulled her hand out of Kurama’s and clenched her fist.

     Kurama sweat dropped. "Yes, well…"

Aohiki woke up slowly in a dark room. She sat up and looked around. "Geez, not again… Ow…" she muttered as she could feel she was tied up very tightly with ropes.

"I don’t think this is Urameshi Yusuke." a voice in the shadows mumbled.

"I just got whoever was in his hotel room." A second voice muttered back.

"This is a girl, you idiot!" the first voice said with annoyance.

"What the hell am I supposed to do about that?!" the second voice replied with outrage. "Well, whatever. She was in his room, she should die."

"No, we should rape her." The first voice countered.

     "Kill her, then rape her."

"That’ll be no fun." the first voice whined. "We’ll rape her then kill her."

"But she won’t cooperate if she’s still alive." The second voice pointed out.

"Fine, we’ll knock her unconscious, rape her, and then kill her." The first voice said, getting annoyed.

"But then she can’t feel when we kill her."

"FINE!" the first voice exclaimed, getting annoyed. "We’ll knock her unconscious, rape her, wake her up, then--" he suddenly got cut off as a loud bash was heard, and then another.

Oh my god, oh my god! Aohiki thought to herself. She felt someone tugging on the ropes the bound her. "Let go of me, bastard!"

The person was heard stumbled back, hacking. "It’s me," cough, "you little idiot." He coughed again.

     Aohiki just sat there. "Hiei?"

She could see his red eyes glaring from the darkness. "Come on, I cut the ropes." Aohiki just sat there as she noticed she could move again. "Are you coming or not?" Hiei asked impatiently.

Aohiki stood up. "Yes, I’m coming."

Hiei opened a side door and grabbed Aohiki’s hand as he started running through the forest. "It’s not safe here, let’s go."

     "Hiei!" Aohiki yelled.

"What, ningen?" Hiei asked irritably as he continued to pull her along.

     "Thank you…"

Back in the forest area where Mitsukai and Kurama were standing, Kurama put his hand under Mitsukai’s chin and tiled her face up towards his. "Mitsukai…" he leaned and down and was about to kiss her, but…

"MYUU!!! MYUU!!!" Aoi-chan yelled as he came half bouncing, half running up to Mitsukai and Kurama.

"Aoi-chan?" Mitsukai pulled away from Kurama and held out her arms so Aoi-chan could jump into them. "Something’s wrong…" Mitsukai mumbled as she put her forefinger gently to Aoi-chan’s forehead. "Aohiki!" she suddenly started running through the forest.

"Aohiki-sama?!" Kurama yelled as he ran after her.

Hiei jumped down from a tree and nearly ran into them as he pulled Aohiki along by her hand. "Hn." He stopped and glared at them.

"Hiei? Aohiki!" Mitsukai exclaimed as she pushed Hiei aside to make sure Aohiki was alright. Damn, couldn’t save her!

Hiei smirked. Couldn’t save your little friend, could you, telepath?

     "Hm." Mitsukai glared at him.

Hiei looked at Kurama, and then back at Mitsukai. "What, did we interrupt something?" he said snidely.

Mitsukai glared even harder at him.

Kurama sighed. "No Hiei, you didn’t. But did we?" he asked, referring to Hiei’s hand, which was still holding Aohiki’s tightly.

"Hn." Hiei quickly let go of her hand.

Aohiki glomped onto Mitsukai. "They were going to rape me!!!"

"WHAT?!?!?!?!?!" Mitsukai yelled, clenching her fists. She glanced quickly at Kurama sadly, and then continued cussing at the yokai under her breath.

"Hn." Hiei muttered as he started to walk away. "I’m going now. I only saved the goddess because she can’t protect herself."

Mitsukai smirked, quite able to use her telepathy again. "But then why didn’t you just let her get killed, if you don’t care about her that much?"

Hiei glared at her. "I needed practice killing weak yokai."

Mitsukai continued smirking. "Just keep telling yourself that."

Hiei started to walk away, but stopped and turned back around suddenly. "Look, I…" he quickly stopped himself and turned back around, then darted out of sight.

Aohiki un-glomped from Mitsukai’s neck. "But now there are yokai that know we are here. We have to keep our guard up at all times."

Aoi-chan jumped from Mitsukai’s arms to Aohiki’s. "Myuu."

But Hiei’s right. Aohiki thought. I’m too weak to protect myself. Maybe I should go back to Oniisama tonight, while you stay here, Mitsukai-chan.

No, I’ll protect you. Don’t listen to what that damned yokai says. He’s wrong. "Please stay." Mitsukai asked her quietly.

"Were you planning to go somewhere, Aohiki-sama?" Kurama asked.

"No, no." Aohiki replied, shaking her head. "Let’s go back to the hotel though." Thank you, Mitsukai. I owe you one.

Mitsukai smiled. Not at all. My only goal in life is to protect you, and make sure you’re happy.

Aohiki looked up at Mitsukai. But your safety and happiness always come first. Don’t forget that, Mitsukai-chan.

Mitsukai smiled again. "If you insist, but I know you’re wrong."

     "You’re wrong!"

     "No, you are."

Kurama sweat dropped. "Shall we go now?"

Aoi-chan myuued in Aohiki’s arms. "Sorry." Mitsukai said with a slight smile.

Three yokai walked into the dark room where Aohiki had been held hostage. "What happened here?!" one of them asked.

"How am I suppose to know?" a second one replied sarcastically.

"Umm… They’re dead?" a third said stupidly as he looked at the two dead yokai at their feet.

"Can you say ‘duh’?" The second yokai muttered in his sarcastic way.

"I bet it was Urameshi!" the first yokai declared, punching his palm. "He probably came back to rescue that ningen girl Ich and Ni captured!"

"Urameshi?" the third yokai, named Go, asked stupidly.

"Yeah. That was probably his girlfriend." the second yokai, named Shi, blew a bubble gum bubble as he continued in his sarcastic tone.

"Yeah! Hm!" The first yokai, named San, yelled. "Damned bastard!" He clenched his fists. "I know! We’ll kidnap her! Then Urameshi will have to come to save her, and he’ll miss the first round, and his team will loose the tournament!"

"So, basically," Shi began, "we kidnap his girlfriend again so we can lure Urameshi to us so he can kill us just like he did Ich and Ni. Brilliant plan."

"But there are three of us this time!" Go countered.

"There were two last time. What difference does one more idiot yokai make?" Shi asked with sarcasm.

Go shrugged. "We can gang up on him?"

"Try it." Shi said as he blew another bubble.

"Alright!" San exclaimed with enthusiasm. "Now we gotta finish this by noon tomorrow so we can fight in the first round."

"Okay." Shi turned to Go." Why don’t you kidnap the girl, Go?" he asked with fake enthusiasm.

     "Ummm…. Okay…" Go replied.

Shi looked at him annoyedly as Go just stood there. "Go, go!"

"Okay…" Go mumbled as he suddenly disappeared.

San crossed his arms, and smiled evilly. "And, not only are there three of us, but due to our unique powers, we are at least twenty times stronger than Ich and Ni."

BPageBreak.gif (2303 bytes)

Aohiki looked around the small bedroom area of the hotel room. "This is a nice room." She muttered, though she’d seen it before.

"Sleep well." Kurama said as he walked out and closed the door behind himself.

Aoi-chan jumped out of Aohiki’s arms onto one of the beds, and started snuggling the pillow. "Myuu…"

Mitsukai sat on the other bed and sighed. "Damn yokai…" she said, referring to Hiei.

Aohiki tilted her head as she sat on her own bed next to Aoi-chan. "Damned yokai?" she asked, knowing perfectly well who Mitsukai was talking about. "But aren’t you in love with one?" She giggled. "Any way, it’s time to get some sleep."

Mitsukai turned bright red and threw her pillow at Aohiki. "And what about you and Hiei?"

Aohiki also turned very red, and threw the pillow back. "He doesn’t even like me."

Mitsukai caught the pillow and hugged it, resting her chin on her arms. She smirked. "That’s what you think. He’s just being himself. Not at all like how he was acting back when we fought Kagakusha." She sighed and placed the pillow back on the bed, then looked out the window. "We have to leave before their fight tomorrow, you know? So they can’t be thinking of us while they fight…"

"That’s why I wanted to leave tonight. But nooooo!" Aohiki said with annoyance. "You had to stay. Anyway, while we’re here, we better get some sleep. Good night, Mitsukai-chan." Aohiki mumbled as she got comfortable under her covers and started to fall asleep.

"Night…" Mitsukai muttered quietly as she also lay down to sleep.

Some time later, after they had both fallen asleep, Go walked into the room. "Anou…" He looked at the sleeping Aohiki. "I’m supposed to kidnap her…."

Mitsukai turned in her sleep then suddenly sat up and looked at Go. "Who’re you?!"

Go stared at her blankly. "Two girls? Umm… I guess I have to kidnap them both." He took a step forward.

Mitsukai jumped up in front of Aohiki’s bed. "Who are you?!"

Go held up his hand, palm facing Mitsukai. "Sleep…" A blast of pressure issued from his hand and knocked Mitsukai over onto Aohiki’s bed. He put his hand on Mitsukai’s unconscious head, and Aohiki’s head. "Got them." All three disappeared in an instant.

Hiei sat up from his position on the windowsill of his room. "Kuso…"

BPageBreak.gif (2303 bytes)

"Good going, Go. Never thought you could pull it off." Shi said as he slapped Go on the back.

San crossed his arms and smirked. "Well, it should have been easy because of Go’s special ability to bend space."

Go was still staring at the unconscious Mitsukai and Aohiki. "But why are there two?"

San exclaimed. "Now we have two hostages!"

"Okay… we have hostages… What are we supposed to do now?" Shi asked, back to his sarcastic tone.

San struck a pose. "Send a ransom note to Urameshi! And then, when he comes, we kill him!"

Shi struck a pose mockingly. "That’s stupid."

San crossed his arms, and smirked. "Then, Shi, tell me why we kidnapped them."

"…….. Shut up." Shi continued chewing bubble gum.

Aohiki stirred and opened her eyes slightly. "Aoi-chan…"

"And one of our captives wakes." San mumbled with amusement.

Mitsukai sat up and rubbed her head. "Where the hell…?" She looked around and jumped up in front of Aohiki. "Who are you!?"

San looked at Go. "A barrier, please?"

Go gave him a stupid look, then held up his hand in front of Mitsukai. She tried to send a blast of telekinesis, but it bounced back and hit her down, almost as if it has hit an invisible wall. I can’t read their minds either… she thought hopelessly, as she stood up again. What’s going on?

Aohiki stood up behind Mitsukai. "Let us go."

"What?" Go asked. "Who said my name?"

"I don’t think we want to do that, girlie." Shi sneered.

"What do you want with us?" Mitsukai asked, clenching her fist.

San smirked. "What, can’t read our minds, telepath?"

Mitsukai just glared at him. How…?

"How can I know this?" San continued to smirk at her. "It’s simple. I have a type of telepathy. Oh, not like yours." he said quickly when he saw the question in her expression. "I can tell what someone is thinking by their facial expressions and body movements. Like, you are thinking how that is possible and if I’ve ever been wrong."

Mitsukai looked surprised, but soon continued glaring at him. "Have you?"

San smirked again, this time more evilly. "Never."

"Look, that’s a very nice power you have and all, but you need to let us go." Aohiki began. "We’re not anything to you."

"Ah, but you are." Shi muttered. "You two are our tickets to winning the tournament. That’s a pretty good reason to keep you, ne?"

"But we are not even competitors. Why kidnap us?" Aohiki asked.

"Because…" Shi smiled maliciously, "you can lead us right to Urameshi. Heh heh…"

"Oniisan?" Aohiki tilted her head in confusion. Isn’t he going to be asleep for a while?

"What do you mean he’ll be asleep for a while!?" San asked with outrage.

"He’s not about to come and save anyone, if that’s what you’re hoping for." Mitsukai replied, as she smirked at him.

"Then there is no reason why you should still be alive!!!" San screamed. "Go, Shi, kill them!!!!!"

Shi whined. "Why me?" San gave him a look, and he just sighed. "Fine… I’ll do it." He smiled at Mitsukai and Aohiki. "Get ready girls, for the worst death you’ll ever encounter. Mwuhahahahahah!" he held out his hand with the palm facing Aohiki.

"What…?" Aohiki suddenly dropped to her knees with her hands on her head. "N-no… What is this…? All my worst fears…" Images were going through her head, such as Mitsukai dying, Koenma dying, Reikai destroyed, humanity terminated, and various other things along those lines.

Shi was laughing like a maniac. "You are going to be destroyed from the inside out! Hahahaha!! And if it works correctly, you’ll die even sooner due to suicide. Now, for you." He smiled evilly, and held his hand up in the direction of Mitsukai.

She went into a defensive position and started blocking her mind. Aohiki will be fine; she’s not the guardian of wisdom for nothing. But if I lose myself in fears, I can’t save her. She glared at Shi and continued to strengthen her telepathic barrier.

Go noticed this and starting to increase the intensity of his space-warping barrier. San suddenly smirked. He had been closely watching Mitsukai this whole time. "Go ahead, Shi, I know what she fears the most at this moment."

Shi also smirked and continued to hold his hand out towards Mitsukai. She started seeing vague images of her not being able to protect Aohiki from yokai, and other things. She closed her eyes tightly, as she tried to force the images out of her mind. Stop, it’s not real…It’s not real… she repeated over and over again in her mind. But she suddenly opened her eyes and dropped to her knees along side Aohiki. "Aohiki!!" She fell over clutching her head tightly. "Ao...hi…ki…"

Go was smirking at her with San and Shi when he suddenly was ripped to shreds as a large purple plant grew from inside him, automatically destroying the space-warping barrier.

Mitsukai got up onto one knee and smirked at Shi and San. "Guess what. I can use my telepathy again." She quickly stood up preparing an attack.

"Shit…" was the last thing Shi uttered as he was quickly engulfed in flames.

"Hey!" Mitsukai yelled to the shadows. "I wanted to kill that one!" She turned her attention to San, and glared death at him.

"W-what are you talking about?" San asked scaredly as he took a step back from her.

"I thought you could tell what I was thinking. Guess not. Oh well, I suppose you’ll die now." She held up her hand as if she was grasping something invisible. San fell over clutching his throat, as if he was being choked. His air passage-way got smaller and smaller. "You know, I hate people who use cheap tricks to win." San suddenly stopped moving entirely, as he lay dead. Mitsukai sighed and helped Aohiki up. "You okay?"

"M-Mitsukai…" Aohiki fell to her knees again, pulling Mitsukai down with her, she held on to her for dear life. "You’re alive, you’re alive…" Tears started to stream from her eyes and got Mitsukai’s shoulder wet.

Mitsukai smiled and hugged her. "Yeah. And I will always be there to protect you, no matter what." She looked around, a little annoyed. "Where are you two?"

Kurama stepped out of the shadows, walked over, and kneeled down next to Mitsukai and Aohiki. "Are you two alright?"

"I’m fine." Mitsukai replied. She was still hugging Aohiki. "How about you, Aohiki-chan?"

Aohiki was still crying. "As long as you are…"

Mitsukai smiled. "Yes." Then she glared somewhere behind Kurama. "Come on, you didn’t come here just for the fun of it, Hiei."

Hiei stepped out of the shadows with his arms crossed, though he didn’t look at Mitsukai or Aohiki. "Hn."

Kurama stood up. "Here, why don’t you get up?" He held out his hand to help Mitsukai up.

She grabbed his hand, and pulled herself and Aohiki up. "Thanks."

Hiei was getting annoyed. "Well, I have no business here." He turned and started to walk away.

"Then why did you come?" Aohiki asked, no longer crying, though her face was stained with  tear-lines.

"Hn." Hiei replied, with his back still facing them. "Because…"

Mitsukai sighed and shook her head. "You two are pathetic." She looked up at Kurama. "They need to talk."

"Alright." Kurama nodded and both of them walked away, leaving Hiei and Aohiki alone together.

"Baka." Hiei started to walk away again.

     "Hiei, wait."

"What?" he asked as he turned around, getting irritated.

"Do you really not remember me?" Aohiki asked, her voice trembling.

"Hn. You are just some goddess."

"So… that’s really what you think? Okay… Umm…" Aohiki turned her head away to hide the fact that fresh tears were coming up. "I better catch up to Mitsukai. I really shouldn’t leave her alone with Kurama."

"…………" Hiei just stared at her, then, "You’re a pathetic ningen girl. You’re not worth protecting………" he mumbled as he looked down.

Aohiki looked back at him with wide eyes, remembering what he had said after he had saved her from Kagakusha. "Hiei…"

He looked up at her. "What?"

"You do. You remember." She took a step closer to Hiei.

Hiei turned slightly red. "So what if I do?"

Aohiki glomped him gently, which surprised Hiei a lot. "Why would you lie to me?"

"Aohiki…" Hiei muttered, saying her name for the first time since she got to the island. "Because I thought you would have just thought I was some stupid yokai." He looked down sadly.

"But you are a stupid yokai. Especially when you did that." Aohiki said with a smile.

"Hey! You’re just a ningen girl!" Hiei countered.

"Your point being…?" Aohiki asked, still smiling.

     "Hn." Hiei replied.

Aohiki snuggled against Hiei, which made him turn red again. "I knew it. You don’t have a grudge against all ningen, do you?"

     "I don’t hate Yusuke."

"Yeah… sure." Aohiki mumbled, a little annoyed.

"And I suppose you’re okay too. But don’t expect me to like that damned telepath." He said, referring, of course, to Mitsukai.

"Gyad… Fine." Aohiki said as she let go of Hiei and took a step back.

"Hey!" Hiei reached out and grabbed her hand. "Did I say I didn’t like you?"

Aohiki just blushed and turned her face away.

Hiei reached out slowly and grabbed her other hand. "Hey." He turned her face towards his with one finger, and held both her hands in his other hand.

Aohiki was a blushing hard now. "Hiei…"

Hiei just stared into her eyes. "Aohiki…" He closed his eyes, tilted his head down, and kissed her.

Aohiki kissed him back, then pulled away. "Hiei…" She muttered, a little surprised

     "What?"

"You didn’t say you didn’t like me… but I never saw that coming."

"Hn." Hiei crossed his arms, and looked away. "Let’s just say I more than just ‘like’ you."

"Hn." Aohiki replied. "Well, we better get back to the hotel. Sleep would be nice."

Hiei looked towards the horizon, it was still dark out. "The fight starts in four hours, and sunrise is in two hours. What’s the point of sleep?"

"Two hours?!" Aohiki asked surpisedly. "I have to go by then!"

Hiei looked back at her. "What?! Why?!"

"I have to leave by sunrise. And definitely before the tournament begins."

"But…" Hiei tried to think of an excuse. "Why?"

Aohiki leaned up and kissed him again. "Hiei… I’m sorry."

Hiei’s eyes widened, and he looked down. "Just… be…" he twitched at what he was about to say, "careful…"

"I’m not worried about me. You’re the one about to fight in the tournament." Aohiki said, stating the obvious. "Hiei… don’t get hurt."

     "Hn." Hiei replied.

Somewhere else in the forest, Mitsukai opened her eyes after having listened to Hiei and Aohiki’s whole conversation. "Finally. It took them too long."

Kurama tilted his head. "Aohiki-sama and Hiei?"

     Mitsukai nodded and smiled.

Kurama smiled as well. "That’s good." He said, not needing telepathy to know what happened.

"Yeah…" Mitsukai looked towards the horizon, making the same calculation Hiei had. "Only two hours till sunrise…"

"What happens at sunrise?" Kurama asked.

Mitsukai looked down and leaned against a random tree. "We leave…"

     "Leave…"

"Leave Japan… Me and Aohiki." She lightly leaned her head against the tree. "And I have no idea when we’ll come back, if ever."

"No idea…? Mitsukai…" Kurama said sadly.

"I can’t say it was always great fun coming back to this country… but…" she turned around and looked at him. "I’m glad I came… more than just getting to protect Aohiki…" She turned red and looked back at the horizon. "We need to leave soon…"

"I guess I can’t stop you then." Kurama replied sadly.

Mitsukai looked down. "You do need to concentrate on the tournament."

"I can’t concentrate with unfinished business in my mind." Kurama said slowly.

Mitsukai looked up at him. "Unfinished business?"

Kurama took both of Mitsukai’s hands in his own. "Yes."

     Mitsukai turned really red. "Kurama…"

"Mitsukai," he took a breath, and then smiled at her. "I love you."

"I… I…" she was so red that she couldn’t think properly, let along use her telepathy. "I… Kurama…" she leaned against him and hugged him. "I love you too…"

Kurama hugged her back. "Mitsukai. I must be one of the happiest guys ever."

     "One?"

"The other one is Hiei." He replied as he hugged her tighter. "Just don’t erase my memory this time. If… you have to leave."

"But… the tournament? You can’t be thinking of me…" Mitsukai said sadly.

"I don’t want to forget you again. Last time, I had such an empty feeling inside for no reason. And now I know how you feel. I don’t need that empty feeling at the tournament, either."

"But Koenma… he’ll know… he won’t like…" Mitsukai started but cut herself off.

"If you have to, then. But…" Kurama leaned down slowly and kissed her.

Mitsukai kissed him back. "I really don’t want to… maybe Koenma won’t notice." She said, quickly changing her mind. She looked up at him. "Maybe…"

"Don’t get yourself in trouble. I don’t want that." Kurama said as he kissed her again.

Mitsukai smirked, after she kissed him back. "Trouble is my middle name."

Kurama smiled and pulled something small out of his hair. "Please promise to return to me, Mitsukai." He put a beautiful ring on her finger. It was just a pretty trinket he had discovered before he had joined Hiei and Gouki.

Mitsukai touched the ring lightly and smiled. "I promise." She said softly as she leaned against him. He just held her.

BPageBreak.gif (2303 bytes)

"Are they done yet?" Aohiki asked Hiei, a little nervous because it was getting close to dawn.

"Almost." Hiei replied with his eyes closed, and his Jagan open. "Let’s find them anyway." He quickly wrapped up his forehead, and opened his eyes.

"Okay, let’s go." Aohiki replied as Hiei took her hand and quickly started darting through the trees, pulling Aohiki along gently. He then jumped down next to where Kurama and Mitsukai were standing.

"H-hey!" Mitsukai yelled with surprise. She quickly stepped away from Kurama.

"S-sorry." Aohiki said, a little shaken from being pulled through the trees like that.

Mitsukai smirked at Hiei and Aohiki. "You guys have fun?"

Aohiki just looked at her sadly. "Mitsukai… we have to go."

Mitsukai looked down, her grin gone. "I know…"

"Are you going to erase our memories again?" Kurama asked.

Mitsukai looked up at him. "Not exactly. In consciousness, you won’t remember us, but in dreams…" She smiled. "Is that okay?"

Kurama smiled at Mitsukai. "It’s a good enough compromise."

"I think it works out well." Aohiki said.

"Hn." Hiei just crossed his arms.

"We could just erase your memory completely again." Mitsukai said to him sweetly.

"I won’t let you touch me." Hiei replied viciously.

Mitsukai just tapped the side of her head. "I don’t need to touch you."

"I won’t let you do anything. The Jagan won’t let you."

Mitsukai smirked. "That’s what you think. I’m way more powerful than you or your Jagan eye."

"Just keep telling yourself that, ningen."

Mitsukai crossed her arms. "I will, cause I know I’m right, yokai."

Hiei turned and started to walk away.

"Stop being stubborn, Hiei." Kurama said shortly.

"Why shouldn’t I be?" Hiei asked, with his back still turned. "I can think about whoever I want."

"Even if it kills you because you’re distracted during a fight?" Mitsukai asked.

     "Yes."

     "No!" Aohiki yelled.

Hiei turned around and looked at her. "What?"

"You can’t die!" Aohiki yelled at him. "Don’t sacrifice your life because of something as silly as the thought of me!"

Hiei just looked at her. "I…"

"‘I’?! You want to be killed?! It’s not worth it! I’m not worth it!" Aohiki said, still yelling at him.

"No, you are." Hiei said slowly. "I would die for you. But not for no reason…"

"Then don’t die for no reason. Please…" Aohiki said, close to tears again.

Hiei looked at her sadly. "Hai…"

Mitsukai was just looking at them with sparkly eyes. "How cute!"

"Mitsukai…" Kurama sweat dropped, then leaned down and whispered in her ear. "May I steal one more kiss… to dream about?"

     Mitsukai turned red. "Y-yes."

Kurama continued to whisper in her ear. "Please return to me." He then kissed her.

Mitsukai looked up at him. "I will, I promise."

"Are you ready, Hiei?" Aohiki asked him.

"I guess…" Hiei mumbled as he walked back over to them.

     "Ready, Mitsukai-chan?" Aohiki asked her.

     Mitsukai sighed. "Yeah…"

     Aohiki took her hand "one…"

     "Two…"

"…Three!" they both said at the same time as they held up their hand and a bright light washed over them.

BPageBreak.gif (2303 bytes)

"Mitsukai!" Kurama sat up suddenly in his bed in the hotel room. He looked around looking, regaining his senses. "What… Oh, the tournament."

"Who’s Mitsukai?" Hiei asked from the window sill.

     "What?"

"You called out ‘Mitsukai!’" Hiei replied carelessly.

"I …" Kurama got out of his bed, "don’t know…"

Kuwabara came into the room groggily. "What are you guys yelling about?" he yawned. "It’s too early."

Kurama looked out the window as the sun rose.

     "Baka." Hiei muttered.

"What’d you say shrimp?!" Kuwabara yelled at Hiei as he jumped off the windowsill.

"Baka." Hiei repeated as he walked past Kuwabara and out of the room.

     "Why that little…."

Kurama put a hand on Kuwabara’s shoulder to calm him. "I have a feeling he’s had a long night."

"Doing what? We were sleeping all night!"

"Just… don’t." Kurama sighed as he also walked out of the room behind Hiei.

"What?" Hiei asked as Kurama walked up to him, not bothering to turn around.

     "Nothing…" Kurama muttered.

Hiei looked up at him. "You ready for this?"

     Kurama just shrugged. "I suppose."

Hiei clenched his fist. "Let’s go."
