Chapter 16: Joey vs. Magick

<Note: This is Luke starting out the story, not Joey. Joey
appointed me to write out the battle scenes, which I seem to
have a talent for.>

Magick and Joey faced each other. They were standing in the
clearing, ready to battle. Joey smiled, then took a step forward.

"Okay then. Let the battle begin."

Joey hesitated for a moment to see how Magick would begin.
Joey, however, realized her mistake in waiting to do something.
Magick used Pound and scored a hit, sending Joey flying back a
few feet.

Joey jumped up quickly and shook herself off, then began
charging up a Thunderbolt. Magick was charging up a Psybeam,
but she was a moment too late. Joey released the Thunderbolt,
hitting Magick. Magick's Psybeam flew off into the air
harmlessly.

Magick fell over, shocked (zing!) by the attack. She quickly
jumped up in time to avoid a second Thunderbolt. Magick
responded with a Thunderbolt as well, catching Joey by surprise.

So far, the match was fairly even. They were almost dealing
equal amounts of damage, so it was going pretty well for
Magick.

Joey used Blizzard next, which Magick didn't think was very
cool. She used Fire blast, a TM Joey taught her, to counter the
Blizzard.

<Is it just me, or are these puns stupid?>

<Joey the Writer: You're an idiot.>

<Me: Go away. I'm doing the writing here.>

Magick and Joey simultaneously rolled their eyes, then
continued with the battle. Magick didn't want to lose, so she
used Mega Punch on Joey. Amazingly enough, Joey had just
recovered from using Blizzard, so Magick managed to hit her
again.

Joey and Magick were both starting to get a bit tired, but not a
whole lot. The battle continued on like that for a few more
minutes. Eventually, both of them were becoming very tired.

Magick was worried that she was going to lose, so she began
charging up the most daring attack she could: Zap Cannon. She
knew that it was highly inefficient due to the extreme
inaccuracy, but she was willing to take the risk.

At first, Joey wasn't sure what Magick was charging up. She
did realize it a moment later, but it was too late. Magick stepped
back to brace herself, then shot a beam of electricity in Joey's
direction.

Normally Joey would've been able to dodge a Zap Cannon, but
this one was much larger than normal. It hit her and she was
thrown backwards into a tree. Due to the nature of the attack,
Joey was paralyzed. She knew that if she couldn't move she was
vulnerable.

<Thank you, Luke. You're now my official battle writer. But I
think you'll scare everyone away with those puns. Ok so I'm
dizzy, diseased, overworked, and contagious. Let's see if I can
write a fanfic!>

<Apparently you can't at the moment. Shall I continue?>

<Joey: Only if you promise not to make any more puns.>

<*sighs* Fine. I just have to figure out where I was.>

Magick stood up slowly, drained severely from the amount of
energy she had put into the attack. She saw that Joey was
paralyzed, but not fainted. She began charging up a
Thunderbolt, gathering up what little strength she had left.

After a bit of concentrating, Magick took a deep breath and shot
the Thunderbolt in Joey's direction. Joey wasn't able to defend
herself since she was paralyzed. The Thunderbolt hit her right
on, and Joey was pushed against the tree again.

Magick fell to the ground and looked in Joey's direction. She
saw that Joey was fainted, and was shocked.

<Wait a minute, Joey was the one that was shocked.>

<Joey the Writer: Didn't I say no more puns?>

<Yes, but don't you agree that it was an electrifying battle?>

<Joey the Writer: THAT'S IT!!! GIMME MY STORY
BACK!!! *twitches her tail* Those got waaaaaaay too bad for
my taste. If you keep those up, you'll scare all my readers
away!!!>

A few hours later...

Joey woke up groggily in the hospital wing of the underground
HQ. She blinked a few times, then saw Magick sitting on the
edge of the bed. She rubbed her head with one paw, then asked,
"What's up?"

Magick grinned happily then announced, "I won de battle!"

Joey thought for a moment, then stopped because it hurt to
think. Slowly the memories of the battle came back to her. She
remembered being badly paralyzed, then getting hit by a
powerful electric attack and smashed into something hard. After
that everything was blank.

"So I fainted?"

"Yeah. But I learned transform attack!"

Sitting up, Joey asked, "How long have I been out?"

"Well we had the battle at about one o'clock last night and it's
nine o'clock in the morning now so that's eight hours."

"Ack. A new record for me. Did you have to go so hard on me?"

"I didn't expect to win..."

"It's all right. I didn't expect you to win either."

"Well that's encouraging. Can you teach me how to transform
into my old self now?"

Joey rubbed her head again. "It's pretty easy once you know the
attack. Just imagine yourself as you used to be before you were
turned into a mew," she instructed.

Magick closed her eyes and began to concentrate of her former
self.

"One more thing!"

Magick sweat dropped the looked to Joey, who was laying back
down. "Yeah?"

"Think of your former self with cloths on, because if you don't
you'll only transform naked."

"Good advise," Magick said, then closed here eyes and
concentrated on her former self with cloths on. After a few
minutes of concentrating, she finally turned back into her human
form. She smiled happily while looking over herself. It was a
perfect transformation.

"Very good," Joey smiled too. "You transform better then me."

"Thanks for the compliment, Joey. I'm gonna go brag to the rest
of Tr47 about my victory!" With that said she dashed out of the
room, leaving Joey to herself.

She laid in the hospital bed trying to remember what happened
yesterday. She remembered taking Luke, Michelle, and Ira to
Magic Mountain, where she was dragged on a roller coaster. She
remembered meeting up with Feathers at the park and going on
another roller coaster with him. Then some stuff happened and
she got back to the HQ where.....

Jackie. She had forgotten what had happened until now. A wave
of sadness fell over her again. Why had she said that? It was so
stupid once she thought about it again. It would have been so
simple just to keep her mouth shut. But the past was past.

She needed to talk to someone about how she was feeling. She
didn't want to talk to anyone in the HQ, because that would only
get her sympathy. Sympathy was the last thing she wanted. She
needed to talk to someone she didn't get to see very often, and
who would understand her problem.

Then she knew who she would have to talk to. Feathers. He
would understand for sure.

Still feeling a bit lightheaded, she sat up and hopped out of bed,
transforming to her human form as she did so. She walked out of
the hospital wing and headed for the computer center. Her legs
were wobbly but she made it to her computer, and logged onto
her messenger. She smiled when she saw that Feathers was on.

Canadian_bird_boy: Hey Joey!

Joey_the_pokemon_master: Allo.

Canadian_bird_boy: What's Different?

Joey_the_pokemon_master: I lost a battle to Magick last night.

Canadian_bird_boy: Are you ok?

Joey_the_pokemon_master: Pretty much. I'm a bit soar but I'll
be fine.

Canadian_bird_boy: That's good. :)

Joey_the_pokemon_master: Other then that, I'm really
depressed.

Canadian_bird_boy: Care to tell me why?

Joey_the_pokemon_master: Jackie ran away.

Canadian_bird_boy: How sad. . . Any reason why?

Joey_the_pokemon_master: It's all my fault. When I got back
from Magic Mountain yesterday she was mad at me and we got
into a fight and I said if she hated me so much then she should
leave and she did. *sobs*

Canadian_bird_boy: *pats her on the back* It's alright. Jackie's
always been like that hasn't she?

Joey_the_pokemon_master: Yeah but she's never actually left
before...

Canadian_bird_boy: Everything will work out fine, I'm sure.

Joey_the_pokemon_master: I hope you're right...

Joey chatted for awhile longer before logging off to get some
breakfast. It was about ten o'clock by then so most everyone had
eaten breakfast already. She marched into the kitchen and picked
up a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. She poured some milk into
the box and grabbed a spoon, then headed to her room.

Jads was playing video games with Dreana, and they both gave a
slight wave to show that they noticed her entrance. Joey smiled
then sat on her bed and munched on the cereal, watching her
friends play Mario Kart. After awhile, Dreana won then looked
to Joey.

"It's good to see you awake again."

"Thanks. I've been up since nine though."

Jads smiled. "I was kinda worried when Magick dragged you in
here last night."

"Eh, I'm fine. I was never good at battling as myself." Joey
sighed and leaned back on the bed. "Anything important
happening today?"

"Nope," replied Dreana. "Unless you think you can beat me at
this game it's gonna be a boring day."

"You're on!" Joey set the box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch down
and took the controller that Jads handed her.

* * *

"Nick use horn attack!"

The small nidoran ran forward and speared the gloom with his
sharp horn.

Joey smirked, the calmly said, "Use your sleep powder, Sakura."

The gloom smiled then cried, "Glooooooooooom!" A cloud of
yellow dust erupted from her flower and floated over to the
nidoran, putting it to sleep immediately.

"Shall we call the battle, Ira?" Joey asked with a clever smirk.

Ira sighed and returned his sleeping nidoran. "Yeah I guess we
should."

"You're a really good opponent," remarked Joey. "I'm just more
experienced then you." She walked onto the battle field and
picked up her gloom. Patting her on the head, she grinned and
said, "You did great Sakura!"

"So Joey, do you have any pokemon I can battle that wouldn't
defeat me easily?" asked Ira while healing his nidoran in the
pokemon healer machine.

"Um..... I've got an dratini I need to train and he's about the
same level as Nick. I'll be right back ok?" Joey set Sakura down
on the floor and dashed off into the other room.

Sitting down at her computer, Joey logged onto the pokemon
storage system. She had forgotten which box her dratini was
stored in. While looking through the names of her pokemon, she
found one she had never seen before.

"I don't remember ever naming a pokemon Phido," she
murmured curiously. Joey withdrew the pokemon, and the
pokeball soon emerged from the pokeball transportation system.
She picked it up then released the pokemon inside.

White light was unleashed from the pokeball. It bounced to the
floor then took the shape of a pokemon. A flareon to be exact.
When the flareon was fully released, it shook it's fur, showering
little embers everywhere.

"DISNEYLAND!!!!!"

Joey sweat dropped, looking at the flareon that just said
Disneyland. It looked at her, then smiled and ran over to Joey,
who was looking quite surprised.

"Disneyland!"

"Hello there."

"Disneyland!"

"Um...." Joey wasn't quite sure what to say. She scratched the
flareon behind the ears, and it seemed to like that. It was
obviously a female, and pretty cute too.

"Disneyland!"

"Disneyland right...."

Joey looked to her computer screen, and saw that Bill had IM'ed
her.

Bill: Joey?

Joey_the_pokemon_master: Hey. What's up?

Bill: I see you found the Phido.

Joey_the_pokemon_master: Yeah.... But, where did she come
from?

Bill: I found her outside my house one day, looking like she was
abandoned. I thought you might like her.

Joey_the_pokemon_master: Thanks a lot. Did you know she can
only say Disneyland?

Bill: Yes, I noticed that. Her previous trainer probably trained
her to say that.

Joey_the_pokemon_master: I see....

Bill: Anything else you need?

Joey_the_pokemon_master: Could I withdraw Daren?

Bill: Sure thing. I'm sorry about Jackie BTW.

Joey_the_pokemon_master: It's alright.... I g2g now. Cya later
ok?

Bill: Bye.

Joey picked up another pokeball form the transporter and logged
off. She walked back to the training room where Ira was still
waiting. Phido followed her.

"What's with the flareon?"

"My new pokemon. Bill gave her too me."

"DISNEYLAND!!!!!!!"

Ira sweat dropped as Phido ran over to him and tackled him.

Joey spun Daren's pokeball on her finger. "Shall we battle
now?"

Ira picked up Nicks pokeball and announced, "I'm ready
whenever you are."

Both of them released their Pokemon, Ira with Nick the Nidoran
Male and Joey with Daren the Dratini. Both were at level 25, so
it was an even battle.

<By the way, it's Luke again. I promised not to make any more
stupid puns, okay? So don't run away screaming just because
I'm typing. Besides, I'm the battle writer.>

Joey threw a brick at the writer, then looked at Ira. He was
already yelling out his first command. "Nick, Leer attack!"

Nick's eyes began to glow as he stared into Daren's eyes. Daren
backed up a foot and hesitated, then Joey called out, "Daren, use
your Wrap attack!"

Daren quickly moved toward Nick and wrapped his tail around
him. Nick was unable to move as Daren squeezed him tightly.
He struggled to escape as the grip tightened, then suddenly
squirmed out of Daren's grasp.

Nick jumped away from Daren and turned to face him, breathing
rapidly. "Nick, Poison Sting!"

Nick lowered his head, then growled loudly. His horn began to
glow, then he lunged forward. Daren dodged, but it wasn't
enough. Nick barely hit him, then jumped back. Joey could see
that Daren was already feeling the effects of the poison.

"Daren, Thunderbolt!"

Daren stood upright and began focusing his energy. A bolt of
electricity shot out and struck Nick, knocking him backwards.
At first it looked as if he had fainted, but then he slowly got on
his feet.

"Nick, use Horn Attack!"

Nick charged at Daren again and hit him, this time without
poison. Daren fell over, then turned to face Nick again. He was
rapidly becoming weaker from the poison.

"That's enough," Joey ordered, while returning Daren to his
pokeball.

Ira looked at her with a bit of surprise. "You're calling the
battle?"

"Yeah. That way neither of our pokemon get to hurt, and we'll
both get experience points."

"You have a point."

Together the two of them walked over to the pokemon healing
machine and healed their pokemon. Phido wagged her tail, and
Joey scratched her behind the ears again.

"Disneyland!"

"Exactly. I'm gonna go do something I'm supposed to ok, Ira?"

"It's a bit unexpected, but sure."

Joey glared at him, then headed off into the other room. She was
planning to go bug Luke about something, when she heard a
knock on the door.

Wondering who it could be, Joey walked over to the door.
Pondering, she asked, "Who is it?"

"Joey, do you really have to ask who it is?" asked the voice from
the other side.

"Oh right...." She giggled then opened the door and let Kat in.
Kat gave Joey a hug, then smiled.

"What have you been up to that's kept you from visiting me,
Joey?"

Joey sweat dropped. "I've been up to stuff."

The mewtwo crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow. "Up to
stuff you say?"

Magick grinned from behind Joey and said, "She lost to me in a
battle!"

Kat smiled to Magick. "You're Magick, the kid that Joey turned
into a mew right?"

"That would be me," Magick said with a slight tone of
annoyance. "Who are you?"

"The name's Kat. I'm Joey's friend."

Dreana popped her head in from the other room. "Kat's here?"
After seeing Kat, Dreana smiled and flew over and gave her a
hug.

"Nice to see you too, Dreana," Kat said while being hugged.
"Dang I feel like a celebrity whenever I come down here."

Joey giggled. "So what brings you down here, Kat?"

"Let's head into the other room and I'll tell you."

They all headed into the room with the couches, where Kat was
introduced to the newer members of Team Rocket47. Of the
people introduced, Tac was included.

"So you said you're name was Tac, did you?" Kat asked him
with a cautious look. Tac nodded. "I'll remember that," she said,
then turned to Joey.

"The reason I'm here is this," she said, while pulling a poke-egg
out of the bag that she brought along.

"What will it hatch into, Kat?" Michi asked with excitement.

Kat scratched her head. "I really don't know. I found it all alone
out in the garden. It's impossible to tell until it hatches, and with
all my work in the lab I can't take care of it. So I brought it here
to see if any of you would like to take care of it."

Kenny raised his hand. "I could take care of it if you want."

"Are you sure you can take on the responsibility?" asked Aly.

Kenny smiled. "Of course I can."

Kat gave the egg a little hug, then handed it to Kenny. "I'm
gonna miss the little guy," she said.

Kenny smiled to her. "Don't worry, Kat, I'll take good care of
it."

"Thanks Kenny."

Just then, Phido came running up to Kat, and hopped on her lap.

"Disneyland!"

"Really? That's kool!"

Ira looked to her with a puzzled look. "You can understand
her?"

"Of course I can! Can't you?"

Joey, who was scratching Phido behind the ear, looked to Kat
with about the same expression as Ira. "Even I can't understand
her. What did she say?"

"She said: Hello cool pink mewtwo person who I've never met
before," Kat translated.

"Who's the flareon anyway?" Pelican asked.

Joey sighed. "Her name's Phido and she's mine." She scratched
Phido behind the ears again.

Kat hung around for a few more hours, getting to know the
members she had only met that afternoon. She also managed to
help Joey with some inventions in her lab. But soon night fell,
and Kat had to head back to her house.

Joey decided to walk part of the way with her friend. Kat made
the trip by teleporting, but she wasn't powerful enough to
teleport the whole way. Instead she managed to teleport a few
miles away from the Hq.

"This is my stop, Joey," Kat announced. "I can teleport from
here."

"All right. It was fun seeing you so unexpectedly."

"I thought it would be. I had fun seeing you and meeting the new
members as well. But that Tac...."

"You don't trust him either?"

"Not at all, Joey. He's up to something and it's not good."

"That's what I told Dreana and Ira, but neither of them believed
me."

"So Ira trusted him too, eh?" Kat pondered for a moment, then
looked up to the crescent moon that was out. "Watch yourself,
Joey. The stars foretell that something bad is going to happen
very soon."

Joey smiled. "Thanks for the warning, Kat. I'll keep an eye on
Tac."

"Good. I'll see you later then." With a small pop, Kat
disappeared into thin air.

Joey started to walk back through the forest. Halfway back to the
Hq she was greeted by Phido. She smiled and picked up the
flareon.

"Disneyland!"

"Whatever."
