Team Rocket47's Bestest Fanfic
Chapter 18: I Told You So!

My eyes were sealed shut with fear. I was going to die at the
hands of team rocket, helpless and without honor. I was always
trained with the knowledge that I could die, but I never expected
to go like this. At least it would be over quick and painless....

I heard a cracking sound and then the sound of a gunshot. I felt
another sharp pain, but I was alive! Slowly I opened one eye to
see Tac standing there, holding his arm with the other hand. My
vision was slowly fading, but I also saw an red and black striped
figure.

Quietly I whispered, "Lucky?"

Then everything went black.

* * *

I glared at Joey's pet arcanine, grasping my broken arm in pain.
He growled at me with a deadly tone. I knew that If I tried to
hurt Joey again I'd gain more then a broken arm. The dog
already had my blood on his muzzle from giving me a
compound fracture. Slowly I began to back up.

"Don't move Tac."

I turned to the door way and found Ira standing there, gun
aimed. So now I was pinned, Lucky behind me, and Ira in front.
It was quite a predicament. What to do?

Slyly I asked, "So Ira, you'd rather kill me then save your
friend?"

He hesitated for a moment, and looked over to Joey, who was
still lying on the bookshelf, unconscious and bleeding badly. He
looked back to me gun still aimed.

"I should have believed her about you, Tac," he said quietly, his
green eyes colder then I remembered them. "And I should have
never believed that you'd changed."

He then dropped his gun on the floor and ran over to Joey. He
carefully picked her up and put pressure on her wounds to stop
the bleeding. This was my opportunity.

I ran over to the doorway and picked up Ira's gun. The arcanine
tried to attack, but I had my gun on him before he could strike.
He backed off, still growling deeply in his throat.

That dog would take the first opportunity to kill me, so I
wouldn't take my chances. I aimed and fired through his hind
leg, causing him to yelp out in pain.

Ira looked to Lucky, then glared at me. Still holding the mew in
his arms he growled, "You traitor."

"I'm only doing my job, Ira," I replied, aiming the gun at him
now.

To make sure they couldn't escape, I lowered the gun and fired
through Ira's right ankle. He made an audible "Ow!" then
shifted his weight to the other leg and leered at me again.

I smiled at him. Standing there trying to hide his pain from me.
But I knew that the shot hurt him. He was just too proud to show
it.

Ira bared his teeth from the pain and exclaimed, "You won't get
away with this, Tac!"

"Did you know that Joey said the exact same thing to me? And
look at her now." I smiled evilly.

I knew I should have killed him then and there, but I couldn't
bring myself to do it. I didn't have the heart to. I'd probably
regret it later though. These things always come back to haunt
you.

I heard sirens in the distance, so I knew it was my time to go. I
smiled and said, "Perhaps I'll see you two again someday,
provided you ever escape from jail," I looked at Joey. "Or
survive for that matter. Until then." I turned to the door and ran.

* * *

That coward. He couldn't even kill me when he had the
opportunity. I had more important matters to worry about
though.

Holding Joey tighter in my arms I looked to Lucky, who was
whimpering and trying to lick his wounds. I hopped over to him
on one foot and stroked his back.

"Lucky listen to me. I know I'm not your master but you've got
to listen to me. I want you to run away from here, back to the
HQ."

Lucky looked to me with understanding in his eyes, then took
off running on only three legs. I hoped he could get back to the
HQ. At least one of us would be safe.

After a quick search around the cabin, I found a small towel
which I could use for a bandage. Tac had shot Joey twice
apparently, once through the arm and another time through the
stomach. The latter was bleeding worse, so I wrapped the towel
around the wound.

I prayed that she'd survive long enough to get real medical help,
because I was definitely no doctor. It seemed that she'd already
lost enough blood already. I know nothing about what mews can
survive but I did know that if she didn't get help soon, Joey was
going to die.

I couldn't keep my balance on only one leg, so I fell to the floor.
I sat there, waiting as the sirens from the police came nearer and
nearer. Joey stirred a little.

* * *

I opened one eye, then felt a burning pain. I whimpered, and felt
someone pet my head softly.

"It's alright Joey. You'll be ok soon."

"Ira?" I looked up, and saw his green eyes looking down at me.
"Ira it hurts."

"I know," he comforted, while still petting my head. "But you'll
be better soon. Just rest now."

I smiled weakly and said, "I told you so." Then I closed my eyes
again, falling into blackness.
