Team Rocket47's Bestest Fanfic
Chapter 22: Execution?

"Ira!"

Ira looked up to see his friend Jade looking over the divider
wall. He smiled slightly then stood up on his good leg.

"What's up?" he asked.

Jade was looking worried. In a semi-hushed voice she replied,
"Have you heard the rumor going around about you?"

Jokingly he asked, "Which one?"

Jade's worried expression didn't change. "Ira, they're saying
that you're going to be executed at dawn tomorrow!"

Ira gulped. He knew that she wasn't kidding around. Shakily he
asked, "Are you sure?" Looking to the window he saw that the
sun was already going down.

"Ira I hear everything around here," Jade said sadly. "The
Rockets sound like they just got the news directly from officer
Jenny. Yeah I'm pretty sure."

Ira sat down on the bed, obviously shaken. He'd only been here
a few days but they'd already decided to execute him? He hadn't
done anything wrong really. Sure he had helped hid Joey from
the police and helped rescue the rest of Team Smak from jail,
but that wasn't nearly as bad as the stuff that Jade had done.
Maybe they were going to kill him as a warning to the others.

If Jade was really right in saying that no one could escape from
here, then his chances of being rescued by his friends was
minimal. With such a short time limit, the chances were looking
smaller and smaller.

I saw only darkness around me. I tried to move around to see
where I was but I was held in place by an unseen force. The only
direction I was able to look was forward, where a chair was
illuminated in a white light that came out of the darkness. But it
wasn't a normal chair. There were metal locks to hold down the
arms and legs of a human. The buzzing sound of low level
electricity gave away what it really was.

When I heard footsteps coming, I didn't need to look to know
who it was. It was Ira. He was walking slowly toward the electric
chair, as if being pushed by another unseen force. He walked
forward in silence and stopped in front of the chair, a deep look
of fear in his eyes.

I tried to call out to him, but my voice was silenced before it
could reach him. I couldn't move at all struggle as I might. I
could only watch as my friend stood before his own death. He
was nearly shaking with fear.

As I looked on, he turned to look at me and in a dead tone said,
"I'm sorry, Joey. I should have believed you." Then the
mysterious force that inhabited the dark void push him down
into the chair, and the locks acted on their own to hold him
down.

"No! Ira you have to run!" I yelled as loudly as I could but my
words fell short yet again. It seemed as though he had gotten my
message though, because he was trying with all his strength to
escape, though it came as a waste of effort as the locks were
holding tight.

After a few minutes of this, he finally gave up, exhausted and
looking beaten. It was then that another figure came walking into
the light. He wore a black mask over his face but it was obvious
who it was.

Tac.

Ira only had the chance to look at him before the evil team
rocket member held up something that looked like a radio at
first. Ira seemed to realize what it was because he began to shake
in fear. Then I saw the small activation switch on the front of it,
and knew why Ira was so afraid.

Ira looked on the verge of tears, a look I had never seen on him.
"Please don't," he begged silently.

Tac said nothing. He only grinned evilly and flipped the switch
on the device, causing Ira's screams to fill the air. I watched in
silent horror as one of my best friends yelled in agony before
falling limp and silent. I then looked to Tac, to see that he was
laughing. Laughing at Ira's death. I began to cry as the scene
slowly faded to pure darkness again.

I opened my eyes, which were tear filled, to see the ceiling of the
pokemon center above me. It was only a dream, but I knew what
to do.

<Dreana!>

Dreana looked up in surprise, thinking who would call her name
at this time of night. Then she realized that the message was sent
telepathically when she heard for a second time, <Dreana are
you there? It's Joey!>

Taken by surprise she responded, <Joey? Are you ok?>

<I'm fine Dreana. But Ira's going to be executed!>

<What? When?>

<I don't know.... I don't know how long they've kept me
asleep.... But Nurse Joy knew.... She didn't want to tell me that
Ira was going to be killed!>

<Nurse Joy? Joey where are you?>

<I'm at a pokemon center near the jail where they took Ira.... At
least I think....>

<So you're near Rock Tunnel? >

< I don't know.... They haven't told me anything.... But Dreana
you have to save him!> Joey sounded like she was crying, even
through the telepathic conversation.

<Joey, calm down. You're talking so fast it's hard to understand
what you're saying. Now what makes you think that the police
are going to execute Ira?>

Joey, though still sounding shaky, explained, <Before Nurse Joy
knocked me out, she wouldn't tell me what they were going to
do him. So I read her mind and she thinks that they're going to
execute Ira. And then I had this horrible nightmare where Tac
killed him. Dreana it was horrible!>

Dreana took this information in before replying, <We already
found out that they've taken Ira to a high security jail not far
west of Rock Tunnel and we've developed a plan to try and
break him out. Now what about you? Are you ok?>

<I'm mostly fine. My injuries seem to be healing fine because
they don't hurt as much anymore.>

Dreana looked concerned. <Injuries as in plural? What exactly
happened to you up at the cabin?>

<I don't know exactly. Tac was going to shoot me through the
head but he missed somehow and shot me through the stomach
instead.>

<But you're ok right?>

<I think so. Nurse Joy says I'll recover soon.> There was a
pause. <Dreana I can't talk much longer. I think they're afraid of
my power so they've been keeping me unconscious.> Joey's
words became slower, and more faint. <Dreana, I don't know
what's going to happen to me but you just have to save Ira.
Please....> Her voice slowly trailed away into nothingness,
leaving Dreana alone in her thoughts.

Ira was going to be killed, she didn't know when, but she wasn't
going to waste any more time. He could already be dead by now,
but they had to take the risk of getting caught themselves in
order to save him. As she slowly left her room into the darkness
that filled the entire underground headquarters. She silently
walked through the halls, passing a clock along the way. It was a
quarter to midnight. She put that into her long term memory then
walked on to the main room, where Kat was asleep. Gently
Dreana shook the pink mewtwo awake.

"What's wrong Dreana?" She asked sleepily.

Dreana replied, "We're going to break Ira out tonight."
